One Mill Co Workbooks are soulful, actionable guides on key business topics for makers, artists, and designers. Workbook #3 is a structure for planning and reflection. Because the workbook isn’t limited to a particular timeframe, you can use it for year-to-year reflection, month-to-month reflection, moon cycle planning, or when you’re at a critical juncture. You can use it for the Jewish New Year or the Chinese New Year. You can use it for your business, for your personal life, or to zoom in on a particular project.

With this Workbook you will:

  • Reflect and assess on what's been working and not working.

  • Chart a course forward with both intuition and analysis.

  • Create a simple action plan to guide you.

These workbooks are handmade to order and will ship within 2-5 business days via the shipping option you select at checkout. We also sell in packs of 2 or 12, so you can use the planner periodically, or with friends. Scroll down for more details...

What’s in the Workbook:

This workbook is for monthly, yearly, or when-it-strikes-you reflection and planning. It’s structured using 3 principles:

  • Look at then, now, and soon.
Planning is strongest when it’s informed by honesty and understanding of where we’ve been and where we are. Some of us tend to be more past-oriented (and forget to imagine and plot) and others tend to be more future-oriented (and forget to take stock and remember). This workbook balances both.
  • Bring your whole self to the work.
This workbook endeavors to balance action and inaction; the internal and the external; receptivity and activity; spirit and practicality.
  • Move according to your rhythms.
Because the workbook isn’t limited to a particular timeframe, you can use it for year-to-year reflection, month-to-month reflection, moon cycle planning, biocyclical planning, or when you’re at a critical juncture. You can use it for your business or you can use it for your personal life. You can even use it to zoom in on a particular project.

Part dispatch from the front lines, part inspiration, and part DIY creative retreat — the workbooks are 10-15 page guides to finding your own path forward. Like any good teacher, we help you find your own answers for your own situation, rather than telling you the advice that worked for us (but might not apply for you.)

About This Workbook

I love reflection and planning. I like pens. I like notebooks. I like slowing down and envisioning what’s ahead. I’ve always loved New Year’s, when I indulge my homebody side and stay home with twinkling lights and colored pencils. I try to get up early on Sundays and reflect with toast and coffee. And I’ve been starting to connect to the phases of the moon, slowing down with the new moon and taking stock. Whenever I do it, whether formally or informally, reflection and planning helps me connect to my purpose. I feel honest. I feel open. I examine and acknowledge. I grieve and imagine.

Over the years, I ended up making my own planning and reflection structure, because so many of the other options seemed to have shortcomings. This one was too aggressive. That one had too many quotes and frills. This one forced me into a time management system I didn’t like. That one involved too many esoteric concepts.

These days, I’ve settled into a format that I find easeful and powerful. And that is what this workbook is -- a structure for monthly, yearly, or when-it-strikes-you reflection and planning.

This guide is for you if you:

  • Want to reflect on the year or a project but can't devote days to it.
  • Benefit from a balance of intuition and analysis.
  • Need a structure for planning and reflection you can return to again and again.
  • Don't use traditional business years/quarters as your main structure.
